Staff Reporter Dhaka : Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said that various barriers in setting up industries, especially the complexity of land management, will wane down due to the one stop service and it will also be easier to take initiatives to set up Basic industries.

Lands Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said this while addressing the chief guest at the inauguration of five new service through online one-stop service portal at the conference room of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) head office at Agargaon in the capital on Monday.

Local Government Division Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Land Ministry Secretary Mostafizur Rahman PAA, Security Services Division Secretary Md Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury and Housing and Public Works Ministry Secretary Kazi Wasi Uddin attended the opening ceremony as special guests. Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Lokman Hossain Mia presided over the opening ceremony.

Saifuzzaman Chowdhury also said that through the successful implementation of the one-stop service, Bangladesh has gained momentum in implementation of the election manifesto announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on industrial development. He said, we have already had arrangements to do the mutation of all the existing important industrial establishments, limited companies, export-oriented industrial establishments and companies in Chittagong, Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts in 7 days. This service is available through Fast Track. This arrangement will be further expanded if necessary.

Land Minister also said that the cost of doing business is coming down. One Stop Service has brought a paradigm shift in creating an investment-friendly environment in Bangladesh, as all the investment support services are available from the single window. In addition, reduction in the scope of corruption has encouraged investment. Land service is now easier and investment friendly than ever.

The minister also said that the more the investment services are improved, the more foreign direct investment, which is very important for our economy, will come into the country. No country can develop without foreign direct investment. So we have to combinedly provide investment services.

The land secretary said that the digital map of the land will be uploaded online within this year. Already 20 thousand digital maps have been completed. If BIDA thinks, digital map service can also be integrated into a one-stop service for investors. Digital maps will help in selecting suitable land for setting up Basic industries.

The Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority said that in order to provide services through the online one stop service portal of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, a total of 05 services including 01 services of Ministry of Land, 02 services of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, 01 service of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and 01 service of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Capital Development Authority). The integration process to deliver the service has been completed today. As a result of today’s services being officially connected to BIDA’s online one-stop service portal, a total of 63 services including 18 services of BIDA and 45 services of 22 other organizations will be available through the online OSS system. As a result, investors will now get much faster investment services from home.

It is to be noted that the government has taken the initiative of a one-stop service to ensure that the investors get any services, facilities, incentives, licenses, permissions, clearances, administrative coordination, or permits required for the project or venture proposed by them (investors) within the specified time for the speedy implementation of the domestic and foreign investment plans. For this, the One Stop Service Act 2018 and the One Stop Service Rules, 2020, have been enacted. Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), under the Prime Minister’s Office, is working to implement the one-stop service.
