BRAC Bank celebrates 7th anniversary of internal women’s forum ‘TARA’

Staff Reporter, Dhaka : BRAC Bank organized a grand celebration of 7 years’ journey of its Internal Women’s Forum ‘TARA’ that all female coworkers of the bank attended on March 18, 2023. The daylong event featured various cultural performances, including music, dance, and skits.

The ‘TARA’ forum started its journey on 2016 with aims to facilitate career development and professional excellence for women bankers in the organization. ‘TARA’ is Bangladesh’s largest private sector women bankers’ network. It also provides a platform for female coworkers to share their concerns and challenges within or outside the bank.

The conference was formally started with keynote speech by Nurun Nahar Begum, Head of Internal Women’s Forum ‘TARA’, on March 18, 2023. Selim R.F. Hussain, the Managing Director & CEO of BRAC Bank, also shared his thoughts regarding women empowerment in BRAC Bank. The entire top management were also present.

BRAC Bank aspires to become the most women-friendly bank in Bangladesh, with TARA playing a pivotal role in achieving this goal. The forum increases accessibility to information related to career, household, lifestyle, and other realms of women’s lives.

Selim R.F. Hussain stated that BRAC Bank follows a zero-tolerance policy for sexual or any other form of harassment. The bank regularly sensitizes its coworkers about women’s rights and safeguarding policies. BRAC Bank also provides various facilities for its female coworkers, including a daycare centre, pick-and-drop service, a conducive work environment, and approachable management. The bank commits to progress towards embracing equity in workplace and promote women leadership at the upper ladder of the management team.
