Staff Reporter, Dhaka : A seminar on "Occupational Surface Contamination and Hazard Monitoring" was held today (Feb 18, 2025), at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, organized by the Department of Occupational & amp; Environmental Health. The keynote speech was delivered by Professor Hugh William Davies from the Occupational & Environmental Health Division, The University of British Columbia with Prof. Dr. MH Faruquee in chair. Prof Hugh in his speech provided valuable insights into workplace contamination risks and
monitoring strategies, emphasizing the importance of hazard assessment and control measures to ensure occupational safety. Honorable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) Professor Dr. SK Akhtar
Ahmad, Registrar Prof. Dr. Zahid Hassan, Dean of Public Health Prof. Dr. Begum Rowshan Ara,Prof. Dr. Pradip Sen Gupta, and Associate Professor Dr Saika Nizam, Research fellow Dr.
Suvarthy Dey participated in discussion session. They were also gave their opinion on thesignificance of integrating modern research and best practices into occupational health and safety
education.

Among the departmental students, Dr. Maliha Farjana, Shafin Rahman Mahi, Azizul HoqueMozumder, Khadiza Tul Bushra, Sudipta Mondal, Mohsina Haque Safi were also participated in
the question and answer session.
Faculty members and students actively participated in theinteractive session, engaging in discussions on current challenges and innovative solutions for monitoring occupational hazards.
The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration in the field ofoccupational and environmental health.
