Staff Reporter, Dhaka : Esteemed photographer Momo Mustafa inaugurated her solo photography exhibition, “Melodies of Momo,” on Friday at Gallery-2 of the National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The exhibition will be open to the public daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, concluding on Sunday, May 26.

The opening ceremony, held on Friday at 4:00 PM, featured Advocate Sanjida Khanam MP, Honorable Whip of the Bangladesh National Parliament, as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Shilpakala Academy, Abu Taher Muhammad Zaber, Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Tourism Board, and Mir Rezaul Alam, BPM (Bar), Additional IGP of Tourist Police.

Momo Mustafa, a prominent young professional photographer, has had her work exhibited both nationally and internationally for over 15 years, earning numerous prestigious awards. This solo exhibition showcases her most celebrated and carefully curated works.
Reflecting on her career, Mustafa shared, “A solo photography exhibition is a significant milestone for any photographer. After graduating in photography, I have spent nearly 15 years capturing moments both domestically and abroad. Many of these photographs have been featured in various exhibitions, each bearing unique emotions and stories. Establishing oneself as a professional female photographer in this country is immensely challenging, and organizing a solo exhibition is even more so. To my knowledge, this might be the first solo photography exhibition by a professional female photographer in Bangladesh. Through this exhibition, I aim to share my photography, challenges, and experiences with art enthusiasts, photography students, and newcomers to this profession, especially aspiring female photographers.”

Mustafa has announced that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of her photographs will be donated to “Shishuder Jonne Amra,” an organization dedicated to supporting children born into red-light areas. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the Bangladesh Tourism Board.
