desk report :
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has said mobile team operations will be intensified countrywide to prevent adulterated medicines and medical malpractice.

“Strict measures will be taken to prevent the sale of contaminated drugs in dispensaries,” he said at a press briefing after the second session of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday.
He noted that cooperation from deputy commissioners has been sought to address existing problems in the country’s health sector.

Various limitations were highlighted by the DCs, and discussions were held on what steps could be effective to overcome them.

Emphasising cleanliness to minimise dengue risk, the minister said prevention should be prioritised over treatment in tackling dengue.

He also mentioned that instructions have been given to ensure a steady supply of anti-rabies vaccines for rabies prevention and antivenom for snakebite treatment.

Referring to the ongoing measles vaccination campaign, the minister said progress is satisfactory, with about 81% of the target already achieved, and full coverage will be ensured soon.

He further stated that initiatives have been taken to deploy Ansar members at upazila health complexes and other healthcare centres.

Each centre will have a team of 10 Ansar personnel, including one platoon commander, and this will be implemented quickly, he added.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit was also present at the event.
