Port Louis, 6 April :
A Milad Mahfil was held at Bangladesh High Commission, Port Louis on 6th of April 2025 for honouring, paying respect and recalling memories of Bangladesh’s most respected Honorary Consul of in Mauritius, His Excellency Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed S.C., G.O.S.K.
His Excellency Mr. Abdool Raouf Bundhun, former Vice-President, of the Republic of Mauritius, the Hon Shakeel Ahmed Yousuf Abdul Razack MOHAMED, Minister of Housing and Lands, the Hon Muhammad Reza Cassam UTEEM, Minister of Labour and Industries Relations, Dr. the Hon. Farhad Ismaël AUMEER, MP, the Hon Mohamed Ehsan JUMAN, Mr. M.I. Abdool Rahman, Electoral Commissioner of the Republic of Mauritius, Bangladesh community, Bangladeshi Expatriates and Officials and Members of the Staff of the Mission as well as their family members and relatives of Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed were attended the Milad Mahfil.
All Muslim Dignitaries attended spoke on the life and work of the late Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed.
On behalf of the family, the Hon Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Yousuf Abdul Razack MOHAMED, Minister of Housing and Lands, spoke on the life and work who is the son of the late Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack MOHAMED. He mentioned that, this is the first time Bangladesh High Commission organised such an event to pay tribute to his Late father. He attended the event with his mother and members of the family.
His Excellency Mr. Abdool Raouf Bundhun, former Vice-President, of the Republic of Mauritius said that he is overwhelmed with the courtesy the High Commission showed towards his long-time political friend, both were activists of the same party.
The Hon Muhammad Reza Cassam UTEEM, Minister of Labour and Industries Relations, in his speech mentioned that he is overwhelmed to see the participation of hundreds of Bangladeshi expatriates in Mauritius to this event.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Mauritius, H.E. Mr. Zokey Ahad, in his remarks, paid deepest tribute and indebtedness towards Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed, who was the pioneer in bringing Bangladeshi workers in Mauritius. He is remembered by all expatriates. He was the most dedicated Honorary Consuls of Bangladesh in Mauritius, who indeed was a legendary figure. His Excellency Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed loved Bangladeshi workers like his own children.
After the discussion, a Crest of Honour was presented to His Excellency the Hon Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Yousuf Abdul Razack MOHAMED and his mother in recognition to the noble works of Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed.
Later, a Milad Mahfil and a very special Munazat were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed. The Milad Mahfil and the special Munazat was conducted by His Excellency the High Commissioner Mr. Zokey Ahad.
The programme ended with a dinner to all the participants.
It may be mentioned that Mr. Yousuf Abdul Razack MOHAMED was the second Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Mauritius from 28 August 2010 to 28 June 2012, till the Bangladesh High Commission was opened in Port Louis, Mauritius.
