Staff Reporter, Dhaka: BYD, the world’s leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has achieved a historic milestone by securing the top position in the Automotive INNOVATIONS Report 2026, published by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM), becoming the first Chinese automaker ever to lead the prestigious global innovation ranking.
The 22nd edition of the prestigious report evaluated more than 867 innovations from 36 global automotive groups using CAM’s proprietary
M.O.B.IL methodology, which assesses innovations based on Maturity, Originality, Benefit, and Innovation Level. The results highlight a significant shift in the global automotive landscape, with BYD earning the highest innovation score of 157.2 index points, surpassing former champion Volkswagen Group (143.1 points) and Mercedes-Benz Group (134.2 points).
In addition to ranking as the world’s most innovative automotive group, BYD was also recognized the Most Innovative Volume Brand of 2026, scoring more than 105 innovation index points and outperforming established global brands such as Renault and Toyota, which secured second and third positions respectively. According to the report, the company’s leadership was driven by its breakthroughs in battery technology, electrified powertrains, intelligent driving systems, and a remarkable number of world-first innovations introduced across its vehicle lineup.
The recognition also underscores BYD’s growing influence in the global shift toward sustainable mobility. Through continuous innovation in technologies such as the Blade Battery, DM-i Super Hybrid system, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and next-generation mobility solutions, the company is setting new industry benchmarks.
As BYD expands its global footprint, including in Bangladesh, this achievement further highlights its commitment to making innovative and sustainable mobility more accessible worldwide. Just recently, BYD Bangladesh has hosted two mega vehicle delivery events where a combined 90 NEV units were delivered to the customers, and set a landmark in Bangladesh’s sustainable mobility journey.
