Staff Reporter, Dhaka : Bookstore and café Biblion, located in Mirpur 6 of the capital, is hosting two special events throughout September, a creative workshop ‘ShilpoKolpo Golpo’ for children, and film screenings and discussions on Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

Every Saturday of this month, the workshop ‘ShilpoKolpo Golpo’ will be held for children. The four-week-long event is open to children aged between 6 and 12 years. Registration for the workshop will remain open until September 4, with a fee of Tk 2,500.

Children will be divided into two groups – Charulata and Meghdol and will take part in different sessions. In the first week, alongside a puppet show by Jolputul Puppets, they will learn the art of making puppets and storytelling. In the second week, under the guidance of theatre activist Progga Tasnuva Rubaiyat, children will read stories and experience theatre through pretend play. In the third week, artist Sajjad Sazib will guide a workshop on creating small books or zines, where children will write their own stories, draw illustrations, and make their own books. The fourth week will feature an exhibition in which participants will present their learnings through performance and artwork in front of parents and an audience.

Meanwhile, on September 2 and 3, two screenings and discussions on Abbas Kiarostami’s works will be held at Biblion. On the first day, at 8:15 pm, a discussion titled ‘The Cinematic Language of Abbas Kiarostami’ will take place, followed by the screening of his film Close-Up (1990).
