Staff Reporter, Dhaka : Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD), the exclusive partner of Monash College, celebrated the achievements of 178 graduates at its Annual Graduation Convocation on July 7, 2026 at Le Méridien Dhaka. The ceremony honored students who successfully completed the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) and the Monash College Diploma (MCD) programmes, marking a significant milestone in their academic
journeys.

The convocation was graced by Nicholas McLean, Acting High Commissioner at the Australian nHigh Commission, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he congratulated the graduates on their achievements stating, “My warmest congratulations to the graduating class. Today, education services have become one of the key drivers of growth in trade between Australia and Bangladesh. As we look to enhance trade and investment, a key part of that puzzle lies
specifically in higher education and vocational skills development.”

He added, “As always, we remain committed to supporting international students who have chosen Australia as a study destination and ensuring that they have continued access to quality education.”
Tanya Perera, Executive Director, Pathways Partnerships at Monash College, Australia, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Expressing her appreciation for the graduates’ dedication, she said, “Standing before these graduates, I am deeply inspired by the dedication they have shown. Achieving this milestone requires immense perseverance, and these students have proven they possess the mindset and academic readiness needed to thrive on the global stage.”

As Bangladesh’s exclusive partner of Monash College, UCBD offers internationally recognized pathway programmes that enable students to begin their Australian higher education journey from Bangladesh before progressing to Monash University or other leading universities worldwide.

The Monash University Foundation Year framework serves as the direct foundation route for entry into undergraduate degrees, while the Monash College Diploma is academically equivalent to the first year of selected bachelor's programmes. This allows successful students to transition directly into the second year of their degrees.

Manas Singh, CEO of STS Group, opined, “While shifting global regulations and stricter visa policies have introduced new challenges for international students worldwide, UCBD graduates continue to transition to Australia smoothly and successfully. This is a direct reflection of our unwavering commitment to international quality standards, proving that a world-class academic foundation will always open global doors.”
