/Use of information technology being expanded to prevent corruption in land service : Land Minister

(Meeting with stakeholders)

Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda said, we will work to prevent corruption in land service by building a social movement against corruption and taking coordinated initiatives with all of you (people).

Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda said this while addressing as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting with stakeholders aimed at establishing good governance in land service at Gopalganj Zila Parishad auditorium on Sunday.

Land Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman, Chairman of Land Reform Board Md Abdus Sabur Mondal, and Director-General of Land Record and Survey Department Anis Mahmud were present as special guests. Deputy Commissioner and Collector of Gopalganj Kazi Mahbubul Alam presided over the meeting while Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Land Ziauddin Ahmed and officials of the Ministry of Land, Land Reform Board, Land Record and Survey Department, among others, were present. Besides, land officers under the Gopalganj Collectorate and the local Zonal Settlement Office were also present.

The land minister said, “We are working by adopting a zero-tolerance policy against corruption under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Corruption will be rooted out from society as well as the state by taking coordinated initiatives with the people.

We have taken initiatives to include land-related information in the school curriculum so that citizens can get some idea about land management from school. You will directly tell the concerned land officer about any problem related to your land,” the minister added.

The minister informed the audience that 32 Upazila/Circle Land Offices and 64 Union Land Offices of the country along with Tungipara Upazila Land Office of Gopalganj district and Patgati and Kushali Union Land Office have been brought under the 180-day program of the Ministry of Land and the first district-level view exchange meeting has started from Gopalganj. The minister hoped that the land offices of Gopalganj, which were selected for the 180-day program, would set a unique example in land service.

In the meeting, the Land Secretary made a visual presentation on the modernization of the land system and the ministry’s 180-day plan. At the time, the secretary said that the Ministry of Land would soon start providing land services from more capable servers. He said the Ministry of Land has taken initiatives to improve internet problems and the digital security system at the local level.

Officials of the Ministry of Land also made visual presentations on the implementation of the integrity strategy, grievance redressal, Right to Information Act, and Citizen Charter.

The stakeholders present at the meeting took part in the interaction and asked various questions and gave their opinions. At that time, the invited guests, including the secretary, answered their questions.

(Workshop with the participation of land officers of different levels of Gopalganj district)

Earlier, Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda was present as the chief guest at a workshop titled ‘Implementation of Corruption-free Smart Land Management’ at the conference room of Gopalganj Circuit House. Land officials of all levels of Gopalganj district participated in the workshop. Land Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman and Director-General of Land Record and Survey Department Anis Mahmud were present as special guests. Chairman of Land Reform Board Md. Abdus Sabur Mondal presented the keynote paper. Deputy Commissioner and Collector of Gopalganj Kazi Mahbubul Alam moderated the workshop.

Speaking as the chief guest at the workshop, the Land Minister said that the use of information technology is being expanded to prevent corruption in land service. Smart technology will be used in applicable cases. Everyone’s activities are being monitored through the dashboard. The minister also stressed ensuring efficient, transparent, and people-friendly land services as well as sincere behavior with the land service recipients.

(Paying homage to the Father of the Nation and his martyred family members)

Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj this morning. Land Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman, Chairman of Land Reform Board Md Abdus Sabur Mondal, and Director-General of Land Record and Survey Department Anis Mahmud, officials of the Ministry of Land and its subordinate offices and agencies under the Land Minister and Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj Kazi Mahbubul Alam were present. Later, they prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls of the family members of the Father of the Nation who were martyred on August 15, 1975.
