November 18, 2024: Cyber Security and Forensic Institutes will be built in the National University (NU) soon. The decision came in the 101st Academic Council meeting of the university with Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah in the chair. During the meeting, the NU Vice-chancellor called for bringing drastic change in the quality of education. “The education system of the country has fully collapsed and steps are being made to fix it up. The formation of NU-affiliated college governing bodies is nearing end. I have taken up a number of significant steps including enhancing Industry-Academia link and recast the existing syllabi to facilitate the student to meet the need of the time.” said Dr. Amanullah. He said, “We are going to bring about necessary changes in existing syllabi in the light of a new curriculum under which the students will learn ICT and various soft skill while pursuing their main courses. Such blended learning will help students to better meet the real world and also lessen their dependence on merely seeking jobs.” He said, “All the students pursuing B.A (Pass)/BA (Honours) courses in the NU-affiliated colleges will have to compulsorily study short technical courses or soft skill courses alongside their major subjects.” The meeting approved a new curriculum and also the pending decisions, recommendations relating to the proctorial committees and results of different academic sessions. The meeting also approved Academic Council representatives to the Senate and Syndicate bodies. The decisions following the guidelines of the Vice-chancellor include admission tests for BA (Honours) programs, replacing of MA and MBA regular programs for Advanced MA and Advanced MBA, opening of one-year Masters of Development Studies (MDS) and Masters of Social Policy (MSP) and a six-month post-graduate diploma in social business at Institute of Liberation and Bangladesh Studies under National University.
