SM Monirul Islam, Savar: A murder case has been filed against 321 leaders and workers of Awami League including former state minister of disaster management and relief ministry Enamur Rahman MP (67) in the case of the shooting death of a student named Sajjad Hossain (29) during the anti-discrimination student movement in Savar on August 5.

In the written complaint, it is said that the deceased Sajjad’s house is in West Patwari neighborhood of Ward No. 10 of Sayedpur Municipality of Nilphamari. Sajjad along with his family lived in a rented house in Kalma, South Aukpara area of ​​Savar. He studied textile engineering at Sonargaon University in the capital.

In addition to former state minister Enamur Rahman, Savar Municipal Mayor Haji Abdul Gani, Savar Upazila Awami League General Secretary and former chairman of the upazila Manjurul Alam Rajeev, Savar Municipal Awami League General Secretary and Panel Mayor Md. Nazrul Islam Manik Mollah; Md. Noore Alam Siddiqui, Ramzan Ali, Moshiur Rahman Samrat, Dhaka District Awami League Vice President Masud Chowdhury, Dhaka District Jubo League Convener Mizanur Rahman (GS Mizan), Municipal Councilor Ward No. 3 Sanjida Sharmin Mukta, Tentuljhora Union Chairman Fakhrul Alam, Birulia UP Chairman Salim Mandal, Birulia UP former chairman Saidur Rahman Sujan, Savar Town No. 8 Ward Councilor Salim Miah, Savar Upazila Chhatra League President Atiqur Rahman and 321 people from Awami League and affiliated organizations have been named. Apart from this, 500 other unidentified people have been accused in the case.

It is mentioned in the statement of the case, Sajjad left the house and went to the bus stand in Savar at 10:30 in the morning on August 5. Alamgir got the news that his son was shot at around 4 pm that day. It was learned that Sajjad was under treatment in the Intensive Care Center (ICE) of private Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar with bullet injuries. After finding out, during the anti-discrimination student movement on that day, at approximately 10:40 am, the leaders and workers of Awami League and its affiliates, who have been accused in the case, beat Sajjad with a baton and shot him with firearms. Later, he died at Enam Medical College Hospital at noon the next day.

Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atiqur Rahman said that there were many people with Alamgir who identified themselves as relatives. Alamgir himself signed the copy of the declaration. He did not tell us that he did not know the accused. We will contact him personally and look into the matter and take necessary action accordingly.
