Meet Bangladesh Exposition (MBX), a two-day event is set to showcase Bangladesh’s potential export sectors, Medical and Personal Protective Equipment (MPPE), Leather and Leather Goods, Footwear, Plastics, and Light Engineering organized as part of the EC4J Project (Export Competitiveness for Jobs) with a collaboration between the Ministry of Commerce and the World Bank. The event will take place on 24-25 April, 2025 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka from 10 am to 7 pm. The exposition is aimed at positioning Bangladesh as a preferred sourcing destination for global markets.
A press conference was held to apprise the media of this important industry event on 17 April, 2025 at Rupayan Millennium Square, Pragati Sarani, Dhaka. Sheikh Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Joint Secretary and Deputy Project Director of EC4J Project, Aminul Islam, Procurement Specialist of EC4J Project and Tanveer Qamrul Islam, Client Service Executive, Export Competitiveness for Jobs (EC4J) Project were present at the media briefing.
The event will host 120+ local exhibitors, more than 25 foreign buyers from Singapore, Libya, Colombia, Algeria, U.A.E, India, Malaysia, Bhutan and others countries, and over 1000 local buyers providing a unique platform for Bangladeshi manufacturers showcasing their products to connect global buyers, investors and industry leaders. Thus, providing direct exposure to many international buyers, networking opportunities with sector leaders and policymakers and inclusion in promotional campaigns. The expo is featuring breakout sessions and workshops engaging industry experts and business leaders in insightful discussions. The event also spotlights gala dinner and cultural shows. It is expected that Sk. Bashir Uddin, Advisor, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Textile and Jute, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh will inaugurate the event – said the organizers.
The EC4J Project is expected to directly contribute to the Government of Bangladesh’s policy objective of diversifying exports beyond ready-made garments (RMG). Improving the competitiveness of these sectors and encouraging economic diversification will not only reduce excessive dependence on RMG but will also diversify Bangladesh’s export basket and increase the country’s export revenue, and ensure a sustainable trajectory withstanding economic shocks.
The Meet Bangladesh Shows (MBS) of the EC4J Project has already taken place in different parts of the world. Leather industry of Bangladesh was represented at the 19th Cairo Inter Leather Expo from 23-25 January, 2025. The Plastic sector was showcased in Istanbul Toy Fair from 25-28 February, 2025. COMEX IT Show was held from 13-16 March, 2025, where Bangladeshi manufacturers showcased light engineering sector. The MPPE sector of Bangladesh was represented at the MedTec Japan which took place from 9-11 April, 2025. The EC4J project is expecting to accomplish with the MBX contributing to the country’s goal of diversified export growth and economic resilience making it accessible for all.
