staff reporter, Dhaka : Land Ministry has sent a letter to Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner today to temporarily suspend Nazir Cum Cashier Shakib Uddin of Ranisankail Upazila Land Office of Thakurgaon district on charges of bribery and take action after investigation.

Various national dailies have mentioned, referencing a ‘viral’ video circulated across social media recently, that Nazir cum Cashier of Ranisankail Upazila Land Office of Thakurgaon District Shakib Uddin worked in exchange for a bribe. Land Ministry noticed the matter during regular news review.

When a service recipient came for completing the newly approved Mutation, Shakib Uddin, Nazir Cum Cashier of Ranisankail Upazila Land Office of Thakurgaon district told the service recipient, – there is an error in a name in the mutation, it needs to be corrected and it will cost taka 1000 in total; It won’t be less since it needs to be sent to higher officials to correct, they will ask money. In such a situation, the service recipient pays taka 700 and says that he will pay the remaining amount if the work is done.

The aforementioned Upazila Land Office source informed later that there is no such fee for the work for which Nazir Shakib Uddin took the money.
