Staff Reporter, Dhaka : International School Dhaka (ISD) has appointed educational leader Steve Calland-Scoble as its new director.

Mr Calland-Scoble brings a wealth of leadership and teaching experience across Europe and the Middle East to the role. He joins ISD at an exciting time, as the prestigious school is about to launch its new strategy, with an investment in campus facilities, and educational sporting partnerships that are unique to Bangladesh.

An advocate for supporting learning differences and promoting learners’ wellbeing, the new educator believes in putting students at the heart of a school’s approach to teaching and learning.

“I am delighted to be in Bangladesh and proud to join ISD as we make a step-change to transform the landscape of international education in Dhaka through our new strategy. This opens up a world of wonderful opportunities for our whole community – our students, educators, parents and people locally – to engage with exciting international partnerships in our world-class facilities,” Steve commented.

“This is testament to the commitment of all our staff who passionately believe in the potential and possibilities for our students and continue to push boundaries to enable these world-class experiences to happen.”

These opportunities include an academic partnership with a world-leading robotics programme from Carnegie Mellon University. Also, in a first for Bangladesh, ISD has confirmed partnerships with Barcelona Soccer School and the Rohit Sharma Cricket Academy.

ISD was the first school in Dhaka to offer the world-renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula for all students, from 2-18. Many of its graduates go on to study at leading universities in the US and around the world.

Manas Singh, CEO, STS Group, said: “ISD is in excellent hands with Steve’s appointment. His dedication, care, passion and expertise perfectly places him to lead the school at an important and ambitious period of its development.”

Originally from the UK, Mr Calland-Scoble holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Geography from London School of Economics, an MA in International Education from Oxford Brookes University, and a teaching qualification from University College London.
