International Climate fund will be utilized properly -Environment Minister

Environment Minister paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s Portrait:

Staff Reporter, Dhaka : Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He along with other members of the Cabinet paid homage to the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi on Friday morning. Later, the Environment Minister paid tribute to the martyrs at Savar National Memorial.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury took oath as the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at Bangabhaban Thursday evening. While responding to the journalists, he expressed his gratitude to the honorable Prime Minister Jananetri Sheikh Hasina. He said that maximum efforts will be made to bring the allocation from the International Loss and Damage Fund at the earliest. It will be ensured that the allocations received actually reach the affected people. Increased transparency in the use of Climate Fund money will ensure its maximum utilization.

The Environment Minister said that true sustainable development is not possible without the development of the environment. Therefore, the policies and ideals of Bangladesh must be implemented to protect the environment. He said that environmental issues will be implemented on a priority basis in this election manifesto. The Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan will be implemented.

It is to be noted that Saber Hossain Chowdhury, before being appointed as Minister of Environment, was serving as the President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and as the Special Envoy of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Environment and Climate Change. Prior to this he was inducted into the Cabinet as Deputy Minister first in the Ministry of Shipping (in charge of Ports) in 1999 and then in the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (in charge of LGED).
