Grameenphone observed “Security Day” with the vision of securing the digital landscape for all

Staff Reporter, Dhaka : Grameenphone once again shed light on the growing concerns of privacy and security in the cybersphere through its official event, titled – “Enabling security to safeguard our digital presence”, as the organization locally observed the Grameenphone Security Day. Key highlights of the event included an engaging panel discussion, where the participation of five thought-leaders ultimately resulted in a reflection of the provision of staying vigilant with each of our clicks and taps on digital devices, as we go by exploring the bottomless sea called internet.

The Grameenphone officials as panelists at the event were – Yasir Azman, CEO; Hans Martin Hoegh Henrichsen, CCAO; Farhana Islam, Head of Social Impact and A.S.M. Hedayetul Huq, Head of Health, Safety, Security & Environment. Tarique M Barkatullah, Director, National Data Center, Bangladesh Computer Council also participated as a valued member of the panel moderated by Rune Hjelseng, Business Security Officer, Grameenphone. The event was held on the 7th of February, at the capital’s GP House where concerns regarding the rising predicaments in the online sphere were addressed thoroughly.

Discussions encircling the idea of “Enabling security to safeguard our digital presence” began with a very linear question on how one shall define security and privacy in digital life, which was answered by Abu Sayed Md. Kamruzzaman in regards of safeguarding of data and user identity. The Directorate General went on to discuss the increasing number of unauthorized accesses to personal information, and how critical it has now become to ensure a safer digital experience and environment for all. Describing the Government’s proactivity projected in this concern, he said that from blocking sites to the inclusion of educating young minds – the Government has already taken significant steps to ensure the protection of young users from unsafe content, while also preserving data security of individuals and companies.
