Staff Reporter, Dhaka : All eyes were on the stage as experts discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) is being used in mobile testing. Around the world, AI is becoming more common, and it is now being used more in mobile app testing. Through keynote talks,
technical topics were presented in detail.
Participants gained new knowledge by attending different sessions. This was the scene at the two-day international Android conference “Droidcon Bangladesh 2025,” held at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in Dhaka. The event, which started on June 20, brought together tech lovers and aimed to help Bangladeshi app developers improve their skills and presence in the global market.
On the second and final day June 21, Saturday several scheduled sessions began early in the morning. The day’s topics included Android security, Kotlin Multiplatform and engineering leadership, along with the use of AI in mobile testing. Experts and programmers from both local and international tech companies such as JetBrains, NativeWaves, Wolt, Brain Station 23, Cheq, Pathao and Zelf joined the event.
Tamanna Rahman, a student from a private university shared, “This conference was very helpful for people who are working or want to work in Android. Many useful topics were discussed that increased our knowledge.” Another attendee, Shahariar Rahman, came with his friends and said the event was very useful for his future career in Android development. He added that the Android app market is
growing globally and in Bangladesh too, but the number of professionals working in Android here is still low. He believes this kind of conference can help encourage more people to join the field.
On the last day, several keynote speeches and technical sessions were held. Experts shared that in 2024, about 137.8 billion apps and games were downloaded worldwide. By 2030, the global app market is expected to reach a value of 623 billion US dollars. Right now, there are over 5.9 million app developers globally, but Bangladesh has far fewer Android developers in comparison.
More than 500 participants joined the two-day conference, including 25 international speakers. Over 20 technical sessions were held, covering app development, career building and various tech topics. The sessions included keynotes, lightning talks and open discussions with local tech experts.
Speaking about the event, Mohi-us-Sunnat , the organizer and a senior Android engineer at NativeWaves in Austria, said, “We want to encourage young developers in Bangladesh to work with Android. Compared to other countries, we don’t have enough skilled Android developers. Through this event, we’re trying to help new developers and those planning to build a career in app development.”
The event saw participation from professionals of different companies, startup enthusiasts, developers, university students, tech company founders, hiring managers and many others interested in the tech field.
The last droidcon in Dhaka was held in 2017. This year, along with Dhaka, the droidcon conference is also being held in global cities like Berlin, San Francisco, London, and Nairobi.
The main sponsor of the 2025 event was Dynamic Solution Innovators Ltd. Brain Station 23 and Cheq were the gold sponsors. BDApps, JetBrains, and Agile Bangladesh joined as community partners. IEEE IUB Student Branch and IUB’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) supported as venue
