Staff Reporter, Dhaka : The ‘Dhaka Summer Con’ theme song ‘Escape’ will be released adding a new dimension to the excitement of the country’s biggest pop culture festival of the year ‘Dhaka Summer Con 2023’. This is the first-ever theme song for any festival. Renowned heavy metal band Mechanix has joined by star artists Rafa, Shishir Ahmed and Black Zang to compose the music for this unique arrangement. Soon the song along with its music video will be released on the official YouTube channel of ‘Dhaka Summer Con’ and all other social media platforms.

The song ‘Escape’ is penned by Sheikh M Reaz, the drummer of Mechanix band. It is a collaboration of Mechanix Band, Raef Al Hasan Rafa, Black Zang and Shishir Ahmed altogether. As youngsters and teenagers are mostly involved with pop culture, the song is composed keeping them in mind. ‘Escape’ is meant for enthusiastic youths, teenagers who are courageous and full of life. ‘Escape’ will motivate and inspire those who are full of passion, fearless and have the urge to do something different.

Prominent Musician Shishir Ahmed said, ‘I have always been very interested in comics and cosplay and I am closely involved with music from a professional and emotional point of view. Dhaka Summer Con offers an opportunity to enjoy all these together. We needed such a platform in our country and from that thought, we came up with the theme song ‘Escape’. All of us have been working on the song together since the beginning. From that point of view, the song has given us the urge and scope to do something together. I had an opportunity to direct and supervise the composition of the song ‘Escape’. I hope that a song as such will give a different joy to the audience.’

Popular heavy metal band Mechanix covered the song ‘Escape’. Mechanix vocalist Aftabuzzaman Tridib said about the theme song, “As a band, we are always committed to giving fans something new. Our plan remains the same with this theme song of Dhaka Summer Con. When it comes to working with music, the greatest emphasis is on the needs and tastes of our fans and listeners. Mechanix created the song ‘Escape’ from that thought. We had a great time working with other composers while working on the theme song. I hope everyone will listen to the song and make the festival a success by participating in the Dhaka Summer Con 2023.”

 Drummer Sheikh M Reaz of Mechanix band has written the lyrics of this song himself. About the song, he said, ‘Dhaka Summer Con is an exceptional initiative. An especial song in this extraordinary venture is ‘Escape’. This is the first in our country to plan a theme song for an event or festival. ‘Escape’ was put in words out of our attempt to present a different style of music to the audience. The main message of the song is to instill confidence in young society, Gen-Z or teenage groups so that they can express themselves. I hope the ‘Escape’ song and Dhaka Summer Con will get a good response.

Popular Musician Rafa stated his perception of ‘Escape’, ‘Happiness is greater in coming out of the ordinary and doing something extraordinary. Dhaka Summer Con is a pop-culture festival, as well as the first event in the country to have its own theme song. And since the song is composed in English, I think it will get a good response internationally. Being a part of such a festival is a different experience for me too.’

Popular hip hop artist Black Zang is also in the production of ‘Escape’. He rapped in a part of the song.  He said, ‘I have always been working on pop culture, but this is my first time working on a festivals theme song. From the beginning, our plans, thoughts and hopes for this song were assorted. As the work is different, I hope the audience will like it. The experience of working together with Rafa Bhai, Shishir Bhai and Mechanix band during the music video was really good. As Dhaka Summer Con is determined to give a platform to pop culture, the song ‘Escape’ exactly portrays the thought of it. I am very excited and looking forward to ‘Escape’ and Dhaka Summer Con’s greater success.’

Pop culture is becoming popular in our country like others. And to unite these pop culture and respective communities, the country’s biggest pop culture festival “Dhaka Summer Con 2023” will be held for three days at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka on 13, 14 and 15th July 2023.

The country’s top local event management and public relations organization MediaQuest Bangladesh is going to organize this festival for the first time with Comics, Cosplay, Concert, Gaming, K-pop, Hip-hop, Art and all kinds of entertainment. Dhaka Summer Con is being organized with the idea of creating a globally inspiring experience and establishing an international standard platform in the concerned community.
