Staff Reporter, Dhaka : BRAC Bank has signed an agreement with the country’s newest private airline, Astra Airways Limited (Air Astra), to provide Payment Gateway and Point-of-Sale (POS) services for the airline’s online and offline ticket sales.

This arrangement will enable Air Astra to accept payments for ticket purchases from travellers holding VISA, JCB and MasterCard. The customers of Air Astra can make their payments through its official website https://airastra.com/, mobile app and sales outlets across the country.

The partnership also enables Air Astra to initiate refund/cancellation requests of tickets purchased through cards with faster processing time using BRAC Bank’s online Merchant Service Portal.

In addition, Air Astra will avail of BRAC Bank’s Transaction Banking solutions for managing its payments through Bank’s internet banking platform for corporate customers – CORPnet, which enables paperless banking to execute various domestic payments, including utility bills, VAT, etc.

Md. Mahiul Islam, Head of Retail Banking, BRAC Bank, and Imran Asif, PhD, Chief Executive Officer, Astra Airways Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organization on November 28, 2022.

Jabedul Alam, Head of Transaction Banking; Khairuddin Ahmed, Head of Merchant Acquiring; BRAC Bank; Md. Shafiul Asgar, Chief Financial Officer, and Mozammel Haque Bhuiya, Head of Sales & Marketing, Astra Airways Limited, were also present at the event along with other senior officials of both organizations.

Air Astra, which started its operation on November 24, 2022, aims to contribute significantly to enhancing the people’s connectivity – within Bangladesh and the world. BRAC Bank will provide best-in-class services, from Payment Gateway and Point-of-Sale (POS) services to Transaction Banking for the country’s newest airlines.
