Staff Reporter, Dhaka : BRAC Bank leaders recently engaged at a Town Hall event in Cox’s Bazar for its valued Agent Partners, expressing appreciation for their efforts in promoting financial inclusion throughout Bangladesh.
The gathering was designed to offer a forum for agent partners to exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration for business development and expansion. It aimed to align them with the bank’s strategy and plans for the future as it continues its alternate banking channel network expansion efforts.
During the conference, held at Cox’s Today Hotel in Cox’s Bazar on March 10, 2023, participants discussed industry trends, competition, modern technology adoption, field-level experiences, challenges, and possible solutions. The Town Hall was attended by valued Agent Partners, Agent Field Officers, and Agent Relationship Officers from four regions, encompassing districts such as Dhaka, Gazipur, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Narshindi, Munshiganj, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Shariatpur, Rajbari, Kushtia, and Faridpur.
In his address, Selim R. F. Hussain, Managing Director & CEO of BRAC Bank, encouraged agent partners to expand the network to include unbanked individuals under a financial safety net and contribute to financial inclusion and national progress. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the bank’s governance, ethics, transparency, and compliance practices in agent banking operations.
Hussain also expressed special appreciation for the significant contributions of female agent partners in the growth and expansion of the network. BRAC Bank currently has 64 TARA Agents and women agent partners operating 70 Agent Banking outlets.
Nazmur Rahim, Head of Alternate Banking Channels; Nurun Nahar Begum, Chief Technology Officer; Tapati Bose, Head of Account Services; and Md. Nazmul Hasan, Head of Agent Banking at BRAC Bank, were also present at the event. A total of 44 agents were acknowledged for their portfolio and business performance in five categories: diamond, platinum, gold, silver, and bronze.
Since its inception in 2018, BRAC Bank has rapidly expanded its Agent Banking network, now boasting 1,000 outlets across all 64 districts. The bank aspires to become the leading provider of Agent Banking services, catering to unbanked individuals in remote areas of Bangladesh.
