Staff Reporter, Dhaka : An Anti-Human Trafficking ‘Awareness Raising Concert and a Documentary Show’ held in Hadis Park, Khulna on May 4 (Thursday) 2023. This concert organized under the ‘Ashshash Project’ implemented by Winrock International and Supported by Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, as part of its month-long campaign against human trafficking and protection of survivors of trafficking.

Popular musician Chandana Majumder and band ‘Different Touch’ performed here. Along with the music, a documentary produced by Winrock International with the support of Switzerland, was launched and screened with view to promote mass awareness against human trafficking and to protect the rights of trafficking survivors. The documentary highlights the consequence of human trafficking.

The concert was inaugurated by Dipta Rakshit, Team Leader of Ashshash’ project and Country Representative, Bangladesh of Winrock International. In her welcome speech, she urged everyone to speak out from their respective positions to prevent human trafficking.

Survivors of the ‘Ashshash’ project including general people, civil society, Representative of local government and human rights activists attended here. They also take an oath on preventing human trafficking and protect the survivors of trafficking.

Launched in 2018, Ashshash project implemented by Winrock International and Supported by Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, has been working with an aim to restore the dignity, well-being, and self-sufficiency of the human trafficking survivors by providing them with psychosocial counseling, technical-vocational skills training, entrepreneurship development, on-the-job training, and job placement support. The project has been working in five districts including Khulna, Jashore, Satkhira, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

Part of this month-long campaign, the second concert will be held on May 7 at the Government Boys School ground in Satkhira. Popular singer Chandana Majumdar and Sandeepan will perform here. Third concert will be held on May 10 at Jessore’s Town Hall ground, most popular band `Joler Gaan’ and Sandeepan will perform here. And the last concert will be held on May 14 at Labani Beach of Cox’s Bazar Sea-beach. Popular band ‘Dalchut’ and ‘Madal’ will participate in this concert.

All events are being managed by advertising agency Cool Exposure.
