Staff Reporter, Dhaka : On the occasion of the 8th death anniversary of Ghashful founder Shamsunnahar Rahman Paran, pioneer development organizer and Rokeya Padak 2021 recipient, Khatme Quran and Doa Mahfil was held today (February 18, Saturday) at 10:00 am at Ghashful head office in Chittagong Chandgaon.

Ghashful Chairman Dr. Monzur-ul-Amin Chowdhury, CEO Aftabur Rahman Jafree, Director Mohammad Faridur Rahman, Deputy Director Maruful Karim Chowdhury, Assistant Director Shamsul Hoque, Khaleda Akhtar, Sadia Rahman and all officials were present on the occasion. Ghashful Executive Committee member Parveen Mahmud FCA, General Body member Yasmeen Ahmed, Jhuma Rahman and Jahanara Begum were connected online. Lions Club Chittagong Parijat Elite President Lion Md. Jamal Uddin, Lion Homaira Kabir Chowdhury, Lion Sizarul Islam, Leo Sajjad Hossain, former Deputy Director Mofizur Rahman and Buro Bangladesh representatives were also present.

Wreath placing and Fateha was held at Azimpur Graveyard in Dhaka and Doa Mahfil was held at Dhaka office. Deputy Director Jayant Kumar Basu, Area Manager Maqsud Alam Kutubi, Out of School Children Program Coordinator Md. Sirajul Islam and other officials were present. Apart from this, doa mahfil and Korankhani and Tabaruk were distributed in orphanage. Doa Mahfils were also arranged at Out of School Children Program in Dhaka and all branches of Ghashful.

Late Shamsunnahar Rahman Paran was born in Chittagong on June 1, 1940 and died in Dhaka on February 18, 2015. She was awarded the ‘Begum Rokeya Padak’ by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in 2021 for her outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development of women. The number of books published by Paran Rahman is 10.
