Staff Reporter, Dhaka : Malaysia can benefit from investing in skilled manpower and in setting up the factories in SEZ, Mr. Imran Ahmad M.P., Honorable Minister, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment told while addressing as Chief Guest at a seminar on “Trade and Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia organized by Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry on June 1, 2023.
Syed Almas Kabir, President of BMCCI presented the keynote paper at the occasion. In his presentation, he shared the story of the incredible development of Bangladesh in the last 50 years. He said that Bangladesh is working tirelessly to move itself to the ranks of developed countries by 2041 as its development target. Bangladesh has shown success in meeting all the criteria needed to move towards the target. He discussed the potential sectors identified as investment areas in Bangladesh and highlighted Bangladesh’s potential as a consumer. He further added that Bangladesh’s huge working youth population has contributed to becoming one of the focal points for attracting foreign investment.
Mr. Imran Ahmad M.P., Honorable Expatriate Minister said that the main objective of Vision 2041 is to transform the economy of Bangladesh into a self-reliant and sustainable economy. He also highlights the BMCCI’s role in promoting the trade and investment environment in Bangladesh. The honorable Minister highlights Bangladesh’s impressive economic growth and its potential as a significant market for investment. Minister also emphasizes Bangladesh’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and business opportunities across various sectors. He invites the audience to participate in the upcoming 6th Showcase Malaysia.
Mohammad Khorshed A Khastagir, Acting High commissioner, Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia are present at the meeting as a Guest of Honor and showed his gratitude to all to be present at the event and marked the Seminar as an excellent opportunity for businesses and investors to learn more about the investment opportunities in Bangladesh and explore potential partnerships with Bangladeshi companies.
Honorary Consul of Malaysia and Managing Director of PHP Automobiles Akhtar Parvez Chowdhury, Idzham Abdul Hamid, Director, Central, West, South Asia & Africa Section, MATRADE, Executive Secretary of MASSA, Ng Su Fun is present as Panelist and discuss the topic. The Panelist agreed on the issue that Bangladesh has become a hotbed for new investment as the industry becomes a fundamental lever of geo-economic power in this Southeast Asia region and there is a good opportunity for Malaysian investment in skill development. The seminar provides valuable insights into the business landscape in Bangladesh and highlights the advantages of investing in the country. The panel discussion was moderated by Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, Treasurer, of BMCCI, and Managing Director of GD Assist.
